Canvas to Color: Crayola Headquarters
This project was assigned to demonstrate an understanding of Revit and Sketchup. This was not a full studio project, but rather a creative exercise. Still, the floor plan had to be developed and a concept statement was used, though some parts of the project are not fully developed (lighting plan).
The project guideline was to design a corporate office for a well known brand. I chose to work with Crayola because I wanted freedom to use many colors and challenge myself to balance energy in the vibrant colors without becoming distracting in the work space. I viewed the broad project outline as an opportunity to make bold choices, and I added an open staircase, and a crayon wall to establish a bold statement in the lobby/merchandise display area. I also included multiple work-style options to allow for independent work and collaboration in open spaces, private offices or in a conference room.
The concept statement for the project was "Against a simple, crisp white backdrop, bursts of color invigorate both employees and visitors. With colors strategically located to spark creativity, energy or confidence, the office is ready to function in multiple ways. Abundant work style options cater to a multitude of users, and the space is flexible and does not hinder efficiency but rather inspires collaboration."
