Manhattan Apartment of Modern Art

This was board one of three for my Special Problems in CADD class at Meredith College. The assignment was to create mood boards in Adobe InDesign for three different rooms and to follow our own tastes. Because my style inspiration changes based on location and on the building itself, I decided I would place each of the rooms as if they were in different locations.

This design is for the Living room in a Manhattan Apartment. It doubles as a display room for modern art. The ceiling, walls and floors are left neutral to allow the eye to focus on the art rather than on a bold wall color. There are colored glass tables to display work such as sculptures on. The chandelier, bubble table and Greco-Roman inspired sofa are all works in themselves. The canvas paintings are the brightest and largest pieces of art and are intended to be placed in a location that allows them to be focal points. The textiles for the upholstery are in colors that will not be distracting to the eye, but break up the white palette of the room.
