This was board one of three for my Special Problems in CADD class at Meredith College. The assignment was to create mood boards in Adobe InDesign for three different rooms and to follow our own tastes. Because my style inspiration changes based on location and on the building itself, I decided I would place each of the rooms as if they were in different locations.
This board is for the Northwestern Kitchen. It was inspired by an evergreen forest, from which I pulled the dark green color and wood elements. I wanted the space to feel warm rather than eerie as woods can be, so I selected a warm lamp (light bulb) for the globe pendant. Additionally, I chose to use gold accents rather than silver to aid in warming the space and to contrast more with the green. The wood and green palette is modernized with a bright white countertop and white and black abstract patterned backsplash. The kitchen also features amenities including a full height wine cellar and an espresso machine that connects to your phone. I also selected a display hutch that allows for beautiful items to be seen in a practical manner, and doubles as storage for more utilitarian items.
